Nobody lives a perfect life

The perfect life only comes true in dreams, a make-believe reality. And the next best thing we can do with our life is to accept our imperfections and make the most out of it. Life is short so live it to the fullest.

Gerry's Grill Dinner with my ATEs

Date: July 7, 2011
Venue: Gerry's Grill - SM Megamall

Finally, after 48 years, na-complete rin kame! :)
I am referring to my ATEs in BDO. It has been very difficult to have a consensus on  the date and day when we are going to meet up since I am already working in Makati and they are all in Ortigas. But as the cliche goes, if there's a will, there's a way. :)

And so we met on a Thursday night and had dinner at Gerry's Grill.

From left to right: Aj, Mei-Mei, Vanie, Anna, Donz

It's not the first time that I dined in the restaurant. Well, it's very ideal for barkadas since they have these set meals that are good for friends dining together. We were only 5 so we availed of Set 2.

For a more detailed menu, you can visit the Gerry's Grill website at http://www.gerrysgrill.com/ph/

The set meal we got is actually good for 6 people so we had left overs. We were all full by the end of the meal.

But I guess, regardless where I eat, as long as I am in the company of good friends, I will have a great time.

My beloved ATEs :)

Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite Tour 2011

Believe it or not, this was the first concert I attended. :p I'm not a really big fan but I do know some of Kylie's songs. I got two complimentary tickets and decided to bring Steph along. Good thing that she was the one I asked to join me because she really wanted to watch the concert. :)

Complimentary tickets, Upper A :)
While waiting for Steph, I spotted a lot of gay people wearing costumes. I mean, they really put an effort in dressing up. Too bad I wasn't able to take photos of some up close. But I was able to take photos of some inside Araneta.

See the one wearing a white dress with a matching hat? That's what I mean. :p

I saw a lot of women in high heels. And when I say high heels, I mean 5 inches and up. Yes, they too exerted an effort for the concert. I, on the other hand, just wore my white flats. :)

How high is that???

Me and my humble flats :)

The show was supposed to start by 8pm but there were still a lot of empty seats. I guess that's why it was delayed by 30 minutes.

Steph and me before the start of the show.

When all the lights were turned off, everybody knew that the show was about to start. There were screams and chants of Kylie's name. And finally, she appears on stage and I guess everyone, including me, was in such awe because Kylie was just beautiful.

The opening number was superb! :) And the production numbers that followed were awesome as well. I really loved the costume changes of Kylie, her back up singers, Lucy and Roxy, and all the dancers. The stage backdrop was a large screen (well probably made of combined units of smaller screens) enclosed by a Greek-inspired architectural design. There was also a hydraulic platform at the center of the stage where Kylie used to appear most of the time at the start of her performances. And everytime she appears from that part of the stage, something comes up with her. First, there was this giant seashell. Then an image of a Pegasus, a winged horse. A big head of a woman appeared next. Last was the 3-layer "cake" (well that's what I want to call it) which she used for the All the Lovers production number.

Giant sea shell

The giant head of a woman
See? It's like a cake. :p

The show lasted for about two and a half hours. I don't know majority of the songs but I went crazy together with the crowd when she sang Can't get you out of my head, Especially for you, and All the lovers. Everyone was jumping up and out and throwing their hands up in the air when we heard the opening beats La la la la la la la la...

Down time

It's been a long time since I last posted an entry. I've been busy lately because of all the project proposals I was doing. Actually, I'm still preparing two proposals for this week but I just have to update my blog. :)

I have so much to share. I just hope I have the luxury of time to post everything that I have experienced for the past month.

Father's Day 2011 Dinner at Tender Bob's

Date: June 19, 2011 Father's Day

It has been our tradition to go out as a family and celebrate Mother's day or Father's day every year. Before, when my sister and I were still students, it was always my parents' treat but now that we're employed, it's always our treat. No complaints, though. :)

This year, the celebration of Mother's Day and Father's Day is more special because of the newest addition to our family, my super cute and adorable baby brother, Sean Nathaniel.

Just like on Mother's Day, we went out for dinner. This time, we decided to try Tender Bob's at SM The Block.

We had a hearty meal and I had a lot of meat that night. Haha! My mama even had to tell me to stop eating already. :p

The food was great. The price was reasonable. I also loved the ambience of the restaurant. Next time, I'll try the steaks. :)

They don't have a website yet but you can like their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tender-Bobs/116224921747190?sk=wall

Sandy's Pizza

Online deals is the fad nowadays. MetroDeal, Groupon-Beeconomics, Deal Grocer, MegaDeals.ph, and CashCashPinoy are some of the known companies that offer great deals from various merchants - food and beverage, lifestyle, fashion, and leisure. I started purchasing vouchers last April 2011. The first deal I ever purchased is the Shui Hilot Healing Spa voucher, which I blogged about as part of my week-long birthday celebration this year.

I'm a fan of spa deals, i.e. one that offers 3 hour-massages for 50% of the original price. The first food voucher I purchased is the one from Metrodeal which offered P465 instead of P935 (50% off) for  a 14-Inch Supersize Pizza, Large Pasta and Mouthwatering Buffalo Chicken Wings from Sandy's Pizza.

I decided to avail of my voucher last June 21 when i was (AGAIN) too lazy to go out and have lunch. :p They have brances in Katipunan and Makati and fortunately, they do delivery in the Makati area, for an additional Php 100 delivery charge (which is really convenient). I decided to order for the following:  Combination of Filipino Adobo with Kesong Puti and Garlic Chorizo, Tuna Arabbiata, and Honey-Glazed Wings.

The original cost of the 14-in pizza is Php 480, regardless of the flavor. It also comes in 18 inches, for only Php 590.

The Tuna Arrabiata originally costs Php 195. It's the same cost as well for the Creamy Basil Pesto and Carbonara with Mushroom.

The chicken wings cost Php 220. Aside from Honey Glazed, you can order Tangy Buffalo Chicken Wings and Fried Chicken Wings.

For a full list of their menu and to see photos of the restaurant, you can visit their website at http://sandyspizza1.multiply.com/

To view the other deals from MetroDeal, visit http://www.metrodeal.com/

P.S. While I was eating pizza, pasta, and chicken wings, I was watching Priest as well. :p

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

A few days ago, I finished watching the Korean drama My Girlfriend is a Gumiho but until now, I still have a hangover from the series.

I downloaded all episodes to my iPod and watched them during my free time. It's currently airing on ABS CBN but since I have work, I can't watch it there. I am pretty sure that it's available on DVDs as well but I don't have time to go to Ortigas to buy a copy. Thank goodness there's YouTube. I would like to acknowledge  d0nNa1992LeEn because she uploaded all the episodes on her channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/d0nNa1992LeEn#g/c/472935218666ECC8

How much are you willing to do for the one you love? Are you ready to give up your own life just so that person can continue existing? For me, this is the central idea of the drama.

Cha Dae Woong, portrayed by Lee Seung Gi is an immature and selfish brat whose ambition in life is to become an action star. His parents died when he was young and his grandfather, played by Byeon Hee-bong, and aunt, Cha Min Sook (played by Yoon Yoo Sun) were the ones who took care of him. Because his grandfather planned to lock him up somewhere so he can change his ways, he ran away and in the process stayed at a temple where a painting of a gumiho was kept. The gumiho, a nine-tailed fox was trapped inside the painting. She wanted to become a human before and in order to do so, she must find a husband. Unfortunately, the villagers started to spread rumors that she eats the livers of human. She waited for so long for a man to come but because of the rumors, nobody came.

Dae Woong accidentally releases the gumiho after drawing nine tails on the painting. He met an accident trying to run away from the priests of the temple and when he wakes up, he finds a pretty girl. He then finds out that the girl is the gumiho in the painting and that she saved his life by giving him her bead. From that moment on, the gumiho has to stay with Dae Woong's side.

At the start, Dae Woong tries everything to get rid of Mi Ho, the name he gave the gumiho played by Shin Min Ah. He was, at that time, involved with Eun Hae In (played by Park Soo Jin) and saw Mi Ho as a hindrance to him expressing his feelings for Hae In. But Dae Woong eventually finds out that he's being used by Hae In so he started to lose interest in her and completely ignores her. Hae In suspected that it was Mi Ho's fault so she became jealous and angry with her. All the more when she finds out that Mi Ho became Dae Woong's girlfriend. All throughout the drama, she tries to find out Mi Ho's real identity. She succeeds in doing so but she did not succeed in getting Dae Woong back to her side.

Another important character in the drama is Park Dong Ju whom Mi Ho calls Teacher Park. He's half human and half monster. Initially, he intends to put Mi Ho back in the painting but she reminds him of Kil Dan, a gumiho who also desired to be human like Mi Ho. He helps Mi Ho by giving him a potion infused with his blood. Mi Ho needs to drink the potion and a human should keep her bead for her. After 100 days, the human needs to give back the bead to her so she can become a human. Mi Ho then entrusts the bead to Dae Woong but Teacher Park leaves out one important detail of the process, that is, after 100 days, the human who keeps the bead and returns it to the gumiho will die.

At the start, Dae Woong agreed to take the bead in order to do the action film he was signed up for. He intended to use Mi Ho and was wishing for the days to pass by quickly but with the passing of each day, he grows more fond of her until he eventually falls in love with her. Mi Ho, on the other hand, has confessed that she really likes Dae Woong and it is for that reason that she wants to become human. She wants to be always at Dae Woong's side.

Mi Ho and Dae Woong encountered a lot of challenges.  They had a lot of misunderstandings but love triumphed over everything.

This is part 4 of Episode 7. The first super kilig part of the drama. Watch from 00:29 to 5:18. Dae Woong gives Mi Ho a cell phone. Watch it so you'll understand how a simple gesture made me smile and kilig so much!

Below is a scene from Episode 10. Dae Woong was rehearsing his lines for the movie wherein he was talking to a maiden whom he has fallen in love with. He recites it to Mi Ho and adds some lines that are not part of the script. He has spoken what he truly feels for Mi Ho and how he wants to protect her all the time.

In this episode, Dae Woong tells Mi Ho 9 good qualities about her.

Because my girlfriend is a gumiho, there are 9 good qualities about her.
1. Special
2. Strength
3. Honesty
4. Courage
5. Confidence
6. The way she takes care of me all the time.
7. Nervousness
8. She will never leave my side. Belief.
9. (THIS IS THE SWEETEST) I just really, really, really, really, ..., really like you! ♥

In part 5 of Episode 11, Dae Woong finally admits that he likes Mi Ho. And this is the first time that they kiss.

In part 4 of Episode 13, Dae Woong finally learns that either he or Mi Ho will die after 100 days. With this condition, both of them decided to take a risk. Dae Woong returns the bead to Mi Ho without knowing whether both of them will live. Dae Woong doesn't want to accept that one of them has to die, neither does he want any one of them to run away. I really love the part that they say Saranghae (Korean term for I love you) to each other and they kiss. :)

Part 3 of Episode 13 is the most heartbreaking part of all. Mi Ho spends the 100th day with Dae Woong and disappears when the full moon appears. Mi Ho wants him to remember her as a dream but as Dae Woong puts it, "If it's a dream, why does it hurt so much?" I really cried on this scene because I felt Dae Woong's pain.
But of course, all's well that ends well. Mi Ho returns to Dae Woong during the eclipse as a one-tailed fox. :)

Below is one of the songs from the drama. And I guess everytime it will rain, I will think of Mi Ho, too.

I love Dae Woong and Mi Ho. I love the actors because they really did great jobs on the portrayal of the characters. I love Min Ah because she's so cute and looks so innocent. I love Seung Gi because he displays this really cool personality but he has a soft spot for Mi Ho.

Though fictional in all sense, especially with the presence of a gumiho, one can easily relate to the characters. I mean, one-sided love is typical nowadays. Some get lucky that the person they like eventually likes them and reciprocated their feelings but the feeling of rejection and the feeling that you're unappreciated are really tough. When that's the case, there's no other choice but to give up and move on.

So back to the question I posed in the beginning of this entry.

How much are you willing to do for the one you love? Are you ready to give up your own life just so that person can continue existing?

Personally, I'd be like Dae Woong, ready to give up everything I have for the person I love. People may see me as being selfish at times and maybe because just like Dae Woong, I haven't met the person who is willing to do the same for me. I know, it's too ideal but I want to believe that such person exists, someone who will love me unconditionally.

If you are looking for really cute and kilig moments, this drama is highly recommended. It will make you laugh, cry, and feel soooo in love. :)

Food trip of an office girl

One of the things I love to do is eat. For a girl, I have a really big appetite and I love to try different foods. Before, when I was still working at BDO, I usually have packed lunch, though from time to time, I and my friends would eat now. But when I started working in Makati, I am not able to have packed lunch anymore. I always eat out with my office mates. If it's raining, we're busy, or we're just too lazy to go outside, we resort to food delivery. And I should say that it is really convenient nowadays that there are a lot of food establishments that do deliveries.

Since I know a lot of people who do the same thing, I wanted to share the food and restaurants that I've tried. This is for the past two weeks only, though.

KFC delivery
NBA Bucket Meal

My share <3

We have tried KFC delivery for various times already but it was our first time to order a bucket meal. We had it last May 20 and we were able to avail the special NBA bucket meal.

A bucket meal is the most convenient meal to have for at least 4 people. It is already a complete group meal. It includes 8 pieces of Original Recipe or Hot&Crispy chicken, KFC's signature gravy which I really, really love, choice of fixins (mashed potato, macaroni salad, coleslaw), 4 pieces of steamed rice, and 4 regular softdrinks. What's special about this bucket meal is that it includes a deck of NBA cards.

I think our share for this meal was only Php 160 per person, including the delivery charge. There were four of us who ordered and to have 2 pieces of KFC Original Recipe chicken is really worth it. :)

If you want to try the bucket meal or their other products, you can visit their website http://www.kfc.com.ph/ or call their delivery hotline 887-8888.

Chowking delivery

I can't remember when was the last time I had anything from Chowking but if I had to guess, I think it has been more than 3 years already. Yes, it's that LOOOOONNNNGGGG. So I was pretty much excited when my office mate suggested that we have food delivered from Chowking for lunch last May 24.

So we checked their website http://chowkingdelivery.com to view the items on their menu.  Then my office mate called their delivery hotline, 9-8888.

Sweet & sour pork

I got the sweet and sour pork, the one which I usually order when I eat at Chowking. It still tastes good. :)

Papa J's Wiches 'N Wings at GT Tower

One of the two places we frequent whenever we go out of the office for lunch is the GT Tower and when we do go there, we already have a default food for lunch, Papa J's chicken wings. It's one of the stalls at the 12F of the GT Tower.

At Php 77, one can enjoy 2 pieces of crunchy and yummy chicken wings and one serving of rice. For the sauce, I always go for the honey barbecue sauce. What's cool about eating these chicken wings is that they give you a plastic glove so you can enjoy the chicken wings more. I mean, I do prefer using my hands instead of a spoon and fork when eating chicken wings. :)

Sango, The Burger Master

Last May 26, we were not in the mood again to go down and we didn't want to order food from where we usually order. One of my office mates suggested Sango. It was my first time to hear about it so I checked their website http://www.sango.com.ph/ and what I saw made my mouth water.

Sango Menu

We went for the recommendation of my office mate and bought the Yakiniku Rice Burger. Though they said that delivery will take around an hour and it was already past 11 am when we called them up to order, we waited patiently. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed because our food came around 1pm already. Apparently, the delivery guy got into an accident. It was delicious no doubt but I guess I already lost my appetite and was already full because of the Caesar salad I ate (because I was pretty hungry already).

Mexicali at RCBC Tower

This is the other place that we frequent for lunch. Compared to GT Tower, I prefer it here more because the food establishments are full-service restaurants, and not just stalls. This means that there are more choices. The restaurants are located at the 3rd floor of the building.

For May 27, we decided to dine at Mexicali. I'd usually order Chicken Enchilada with rice but I wasn't really hungry that day so I just ordered Taco Rice. This is one of their so-called value meals, amounting to Php 99 only and I really enjoy it with the sauce they have at the restaurant.

Mexicali's Taco Rice

This will be the first entry I am going to share with you guys really great food choices. I hope your appetite will grow as big as mine. Food is LOVE! :)
